A long standing client asked us to explore the visual capabilities of UE4 as a real-time rendering engine, whilst retaining a high frame rate (120fps) for use within an automotive driver-in-the-loop simulator environment.  This resulted in us recreating a 2.5km square section of the infamous Pikes Peak run.

We created custom materials blending up to 8 high resolution textures using vertex colours on a ground mesh of only 15K polys.  We then added grass and rock megascan assets.  Watch this space as we convert the environment for use in UE5......
